It’s easy to go along with everyone else, to say what you think you’re supposed to say in order to belong. For example, speaking negatively about that one colleague, even though you don’t really want to. We all feel that need to belong.
But on the other hand, we also have the need to express ourselves. In that same situation, we can choose to speak about someone with love instead. To use our own voice. For me, that means writing, so that my unique self becomes visible.
Created- to use are voice
I believe we are all created to use our voice, big or small—on a stage or in a simple conversation. It can be scary to speak up. But by choosing authenticity and love, like in the example above, change can happen. Others see it and think, “That’s how I want to be too.
That is scary. That is authentic. And yes, it’s also incredibly powerful.
